Photographs of
Aquatic Birds

University of Florida Aquatic, Wetland and Invasive Plant Information Retrieval System

Mr. Randy Roth amassed his collection of "birds on plants" slides while conducting the field research for his master's degree from the Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation here at the University of Florida. Most photographs were taken on the Winter Haven Chain of Lakes in Polk County, Florida. His thesis is titled Bird Community Use of Littoral Zone Emergent Macrophytes on an Urban Lake System. Randy completed his M.S. degree in the Spring of 1997, and currently is an Environmental Specialist with the St. Johns River Water Management District.

Randy used a Pentax K1000 with an 80-300MM zoom lens for most shots, and a standard 52MM lens for some. He primarily used 64 ASA Kodachrome film, but also used Ektachrome 100 and 200. These images are a sampling of his collection and are presented in the relatively low resolution required for Internet viewing.
