Another fine publication by Sainty, et al, in hard-cover book format. Excellent photographs, keys, distribution, economic significance, habitat, growth biology and plant descriptions of hundreds of species. Includes chapters on biological control, freshwater algae, carp, crayfish and water rat, eutrophication, waterplants in ricefields, aquatic plant management, and a beautiful photographic section on seeds of waterplants.

Stemmermann, L. 1981. A Guide to Pacific Wetland Plants. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District. 118 pp.

A very nice color photographic guide, supplemented with line drawings. Includes interesting notes on utilization, keys for some plant groups. Island groups covered by the guide are the Caroline Islands, Mariana Islands (Guam, Northern Mariana Islands), American Samoa, and the Hawaiian Islands.

Areas included in this study are Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and Alaska. Primarily keys and descriptive flora. A small number of basic illustrations (which do not reproduce very well in the UMI reprinted version).

Each plant has a single photograph and a plant description which includes growth habit and life history, pollination biology and seed dispersal, blooming dates, synonymy, uses of the plant by people and wildlife, and other interesting facts. There is a glossary, but no key. The book is arranged by family.
