Rosa laevigata
Cherokee rose
Not Native to Florida
Cherokee rose is native to China. It is occasionally found in the moist hammocks of the central peninsula and panhandle of Florida (Wunderlin, 1998). It flowers in the spring.
While there are many, many native Rosa species in North America, there are also a number of non-native exotics, escaped from cultivation. Cherokee rose is found in all the most southeasterly states (Kartesz, 1999).
