Baker's cord grass is a large grass.
from short rhizomes; stems clump-forming, 3 to 6 ft. tall;
leaf blades often rolled and pointed (or somewhat flattened), to 2 1/2 ft. long,
to 1/4 in. wide, sandpapery on the upper side; inflorescence 3-7 in. long,
comprised of 3-14 branches that ascend near the axis; flowers conspicuous,
only on the undersides of the branches; spikelets flattened
